About Ebony Cox

Founder & Facilitator – Ebony Cox Equine Services (ECES)

I’m the founder and head facilitator of Ebony Cox Equine Services (ECES) and a qualified Agricultural and Equine Applied Scientist, Equine Nutritionist and hold a AEFL level 1 & 2 facilitator certificate. ECES was born from my passion for animals, nature, and therapeutic connection—a space where these elements come together to support individual growth, and learning.

I have a lifelong passion for creating the connection between animals and humans. My work centers on teaching the fundamentals of animal behaviour, emotional awareness, and compassionate care—helping people to build strong, respectful relationships with animals from the ground up.

With a commitment to holistic and evidence-based practice, I provide a professional service shaped by current research, hands-on experience, and a deep respect for both animals and people. My goal is to offer inclusive, judgment-free learning experiences where individuals of all abilities can explore husbandry, horsemanship, management, and care.

At ECES, I strive to create a space where knowledge is shared, confidence is built, and meaningful growth—both personal and professional—is supported through the transformative presence of animals.

About Shona Sellars

Facilitator – Ebony Cox Equine Services (ECES)

Hi! I'm Shona,

I have a deep passion for working with animals, particularly horses, and bring extensive hands-on experience from the outback regions of Queensland. Since the age of fourteen, I’ve worked on remote stations, gaining valuable skills in handling a wide range of animals—from traditional farm stock to more unusual species. My time working on cattle and goat dairies helped me realise my passion for sharing knowledge with others, which eventually led me to discover Ebony Cox Equine Services during its early stages.

Since joining ECES, I’ve grown both personally and professionally. I’ve worked in youth centers, provided one-on-one support, and contributed to emotional and behavioural support programs. I’ve completed my Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) Level one and two certification and am currently studying for a Diploma in Youth Work.

I bring to ECES a blend of traditional outback knowledge—drawn from old stockman practices—and hands-on creativity. In our sessions, I create a fun, engaging, and judgment-free environment where participants can learn practical skills. From building garden beds and goat carts to crafting guitar stands and pizza ovens to name the latest projects, I aim to inspire confidence, independence, meaningful personal growth while fostering real-world skills.

About Sharon-Ann Sharman

Facilitator – Ebony Cox Equine Services (ECES)

Hi, I’m Sharon-Ann.

Horses have been a central part of my life since childhood, beginning with Pony Club and leading to my role as Queensland’s youngest Pony Club instructor. My time working as a governess and jillaroo in the Gulf Country sparked a deep passion for teaching and sharing knowledge with others.

Throughout my career, I’ve embraced a variety of roles—from two decades as a swimming teacher, coach, and lifeguard to pursuing my love for horses, particularly during the winter months. I also hold formal qualifications in Workplace Training and Assessment, Applied Social Science, and a Diploma in Land Conservation and Management.

Today, I continue to ride and drive carriage horses, work as a tutor and support worker, and share my knowledge through creative and environmental-based activities. At ECES, I specialise in supporting our most vulnerable clients by providing a calm, engaging, and inclusive environment where they feel safe, valued, and encouraged to grow.
